Sinner here and I know the shame it can bring to a marriage. If I’m being honest, the enemy STILL (after almost 18 years of marriage) likes to weasel his way in my ear to tell me that I was a failure, that I ruined the gift of sex that God gave me, that I am tainted.
I wasn’t particularly excited to write about this because it’s a regret I begrudgingly still carry. God, on the other hand, has nudged me to share anyway because there are many of you, Christ followers, in the same boat that need this truth declared over you as well:
YOU are a child of God.
And if you’re a parent, you know that even when your child messes up, we still love them.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name. (John 1:12)
YOU are *redeemed and *forgiven by the grace of Christ.
God isn’t still harping on your sin. Only you are doing that.
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace. (Ephesians 1:7)
YOUR body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you.
Yes, YOU! Even with that sexual baggage you’re still trying to carry around, the Holy Spirit dwells in you anyway! Why? Because through Christ, you’ve been washed clean!
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? . . . Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19)
So the question… Virgin or Sinner?
The answer… REDEEMED!
